Suicide and suicidal thoughts are quite common and come up in a reading. This is one example of a tarot reading on the subject.
One thing the Opening of The Key Tarot spread is good at is representing the circumstances in a client’s life, in a way that is impossible for positional spreads. Positional spreads usually have one card in each place, which makes it difficult to see any imbalances. In this reading two of the piles had hardly any cards – the rest were in the other two.
A woman in her sixties came to me for a reading, She was spiritual, teaching yoga successfully for many years. She talked a lot about suicide. Since we were on Brighton Seafront, she was telling me how inviting the sea looked as she walked on the Pier. She had also been abused as a child.
Tarot reading on suicide
Despite talking about suicide, she did not display the grief and trauma you would normally expect. After a while, we consulted the tarot, using the Opening of the Key Tarot spread. The first stage is to cut the deck into four piles, and when she did this, we ended up with most of the tarot in the Earth/Future, and at the other extreme just two in the past. I suggested she interpret the piles (without turning them over), and I told her the meanings of the four stacks. She laughed – “all that in my future!”. There were near to 60 in the Future. “Yes,” I said, “you have the kitchen sink!” The top card of the 60 was the 6 Swords, “best to go on holiday” I said, and she was going to Egypt in two days time, hopefully without thoughts of suicide.
The two in the Fire/Past position were the Knight of Wands and the Emperor, and she saw that as relating to abuse/trust issues with men.
There was no need to go into reading each card otherwise. The lady left soon after with a spring in her step – no thoughts of suicide.
